We are here to support your needs. If your questions are related to workouts, meets, events, goal setting, and other swimming related needs, please contact one of the coaches. For all questions related to administrative, such as dues, safety, or policy issues, please contact one of the board members.

Coach Jim Cornforth joined the SVY Chinooks as our head coach in the fall of 2001. He has extensive YMCA aquatics and swim team coaching experience. In addition to coaching Jim C enjoys Judo and spending time on Lake Samish where he and his wife live.

A note from Coach Jim Cornforth

Assistant Coach Jim Byfield has been associated with the SVY Chinook program for a number of years, starting as a swimmer and now as a coach. He and his wife live in Mount Vernon and currently have two swimmers on the team.

Scott joined our coaching staff in late fall, 2006. He swam competitively as a young man and continues in the Y’s Master program. What a welcome addition to our team!

Troy has been a Master's swimmer for a number of years. He competed collegiately for Whitman College from 1987-1991. In 1991, he competed at the National Championships in freestyle and breaststroke. His son, Luke, is a member of our team.

We are fortunate to have these four fine and knowledgeable men associated with our Chinook Swim Team as coaches.
